Israeli firms Innoviz Technologies and Givon Defense are partnering to evaluate LiDAR-based precision localization technology for counter-drone systems.
The collaboration brings together Givon Defense’s counter-drone expertise and Innoviz’ automotive-grade LiDAR technology to assess new methods of enhancing battlefield awareness during drone defense operations.
Givon Defense has been testing multiple sensing technologies to address the persistent challenge of maintaining an accurate, real-time location of low-altitude drones in complex operational environments.
“We believe this collaboration with Givon Defense highlights the value of advanced sensing in strengthening situational awareness and enabling more effective responses in complex operational environments,” Innoviz CEO Omar Keilaf said.
Early evaluations indicated that Innoviz’ existing LiDAR sensors could provide the high-resolution spatial data needed to improve target localization and support faster decision-making during counter-drone operations.
Partnerships Advancing Counter-Drone Tech
Counter-drone technology has become a major area of collaboration between defense companies as governments seek layered systems capable of detecting, tracking, and defeating unmanned aerial threats.
Just last month, Milrem Robotics and Frankenburg Technologies agreed to integrate the Mark I guided interceptor into Milrem’s autonomous ground vehicles, creating a mobile short-range system for defeating low-cost drones.
The same month, L3Harris Technologies and Skydagger Technologies announced plans to explore integrating interceptor drones into L3Harris’ Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment system.
Ukrainian Armor also partnered in June with MBDA to jointly develop long-range strike and counter-drone capabilities.
Earlier, in May, DroneShield and Terma signed an agreement to develop integrated counter-drone solutions.
