L3Harris, Turkey’s Skydagger Team Up on Drone Interceptor Integration
L3Harris Technologies and Turkish firm Skydagger Technologies will explore the integration of drone interceptor technology into counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) operations.
Under the memorandum of understanding, the companies will examine potential enhancements to L3Harris’ Vehicle-Agnostic Modular Palletized ISR Rocket Equipment (VAMPIRE) system, including the use of interceptor drones designed to engage hostile unmanned aircraft.
The proposed capability would be manufactured in the US and could be offered to allied military operators.
Expanding Counter-Drone Options
The collaboration comes as armed forces increasingly seek cost-effective methods to counter the growing use of drones on modern battlefields.
Traditional air defense systems can be expensive when used against small and relatively inexpensive unmanned aircraft, prompting interest in alternative approaches such as drone-on-drone interception.
L3Harris said the partnership aims to support the development of new capabilities for the VAMPIRE platform while accelerating production timelines and expanding operational flexibility.
The VAMPIRE system is a modular counter-drone and precision-strike platform that can be mounted on a variety of vehicles. It combines electro-optical and infrared sensors with targeting software and has been used with laser-guided munitions to engage aerial and ground targets.
The system gained international attention after being supplied to Ukraine, where it has been employed against Russian drones and other threats.
Skydagger develops unmanned systems and counter-drone technologies, including interceptor drones intended to neutralize hostile UAS.
The announcement follows L3Harris’ expansion of VAMPIRE production capacity. In 2026, the company began high-volume manufacturing of the system at its facility in Huntsville, Alabama, citing increased demand from the United States and allied nations for counter-drone capabilities.
