Vantor, Rheinmetall Explore Joint Spatial Intelligence Venture for Europe

US-based company Vantor and German firm Rheinmetall have signed an agreement to develop sovereign geospatial intelligence capabilities for Germany and other European countries.

Under the deal, the companies outlined plans for a Germany-based joint venture that would combine Vantor’s satellite imagery and geospatial intelligence technologies with Rheinmetall’s command-and-control systems and defense infrastructure.

The capability would collect and process intelligence from multiple sources, including satellites, drones, airborne platforms, and ground-based sensors.

It would then analyze and distribute the resulting information across military networks, providing a common operational picture for battlefield decision-making.

“To maintain decision advantage at the pace of today’s conflict, Europe’s armed forces need control of the architecture that turns that data into trusted ground truth,” said Dan Smoot, Chief Executive Officer of Vantor.

Applications would range from targeting and mission planning to battle damage assessment, persistent surveillance, and command-and-control operations.

Armin Papperger, CEO of Rheinmetall AG, stated that “the future of reconnaissance will not be determined by sensors alone, but by the ability to quickly and reliably process information from a wide variety of sources and make it usable.”

Tensorglobe Platform

Under the partnership, Vantor will contribute its Tensorglobe spatial intelligence platform.

The system is designed to process and combine data from multiple sources, including synthetic aperture radar, electro-optical, and infrared satellites.

Tensorglobe includes several software modules covering the full intelligence cycle.

Cortex uses automation and AI to coordinate imagery collection across multiple satellites, while Forge generates 2D and 3D geospatial products and integrates data from space-, air-, and ground-based sensors.

Nexus serves as the platform’s central data management layer, linking sensors, analytics tools, and operational users.

The architecture can be deployed in cloud, on-premises, or edge environments, including classified networks, and provides users with direct tasking access to Vantor’s satellite constellation for rapid imagery collection and delivery.
