Leonardo DRS has agreed to acquire Virginia-based defense technology company Raft in a $450-million all-cash deal.
Raft’s expertise in open-architecture mission software, specializing in multi-domain data fusion and artificial intelligence (AI), will expand Leonardo DRS’ capabilities to deliver integrated mission solutions that enhance real-time situational awareness and accelerate operational decision-making.
The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
“Our open-architecture platform was built to integrate across systems, not lock customers in, and pairing it with DRS’s sensing and computing franchises will accelerate our ability to deliver mission capability at a global scale,” said Shubhi Mishra, Founder and CEO of Raft.
Raft in the US Military
Raft already supports several US military modernization efforts.
In 2023, the US Air Force’s Cyber Operations selected Raft to develop a software factory based on the Pentagon’s Platform One solution to support the service’s digital modernization efforts.
Raft also demonstrated its AI-powered Starsage aerial battle management system with US Air Force fighter pilots during a 2025 exercise, reducing response times to seconds.
As part of a Lockheed Martin-led consortium to develop the US Army’s Next Generation Command and Control, Raft is providing its Data Platform as the system’s foundational data layer alongside its AI mission system.
