Israeli sensor developer Innoviz Technologies has received $3.5 million in orders for its light detection and ranging (LiDAR) solution in support of a military customer.
The deal covers “several hundred” units of equipment for integration into counter-unmanned aerial systems and perimeter intrusion detection networks.
It includes an option for the supply of additional units, with future follow-on orders depending on the system’s performance during initial fielding.
The company said the award marks the first time the undisclosed defense user has purchased the device.
The agreement follows Innoviz’s collaboration with Israel-based industry partner Givon to evaluate LiDAR nodes for enhanced drone defense and perimeter security on the modern battlefield.
Maintaining Operational Picture
Innoviz said its LiDAR offering addresses gaps in delivering precise target coordinates, where legacy sensors, cameras, and radar only provide approximate locations.
The in-house technology uses high-resolution 3D capability for precise localization and identification of targets from decoys across low-light and congested environments.
Additionally, the device’s automotive-grade architecture allows all-day functionality across rugged conditions while maintaining visibility through smoke, fog, or dust.
