Turbopower has secured a spot in a Pentagon project worth up to $343.2 million to deliver depot-level assistance for the next-generation T56 propulsion system that powers the Lockheed Martin C-130 Hercules military transport aircraft.
The deal focuses on repair and overhaul task orders for the engine’s Series III and 3.5 configurations employed across the US Air Force, US Navy, and foreign military sales customers.
Services include the provision of key modules and components that assist activities to sustain the capability.
The Florida-based company is expected to work on the effort for up to 10 years, ensuring availability and extending operability of the international engine fleet.

About the T56
The T56, originally developed by Allison and now produced by Rolls-Royce, enables the C-130 to achieve a top speed of 320 knots (368 miles/593 kilometers per hour), a range of 2,050 nautical miles (2,359 miles/3,797 kilometers per hour), and altitudes of up to 33,000 feet (10,058 meters).
In addition to the Hercules, the engine is equipped on the Lockheed P-3 Orion anti-submarine warfare and hurricane hunters, as well as the Northrop Grumman E-2 Hawkeye spy plane.
To date, more than 18,000 T56 engines have been produced, serving in 70 countries and logging over 230 million hours of flight time.
