Indra, OneArc Team Up to Enhance Spanish Army Training Simulations
Indra Group and BAE Systems’ simulation subsidiary OneArc have signed an agreement to enhance training and simulation capabilities for the Spanish Army’s land vehicle programs.
The partnership focuses on integrating OneArc’s VBS4 virtual simulation software and Blue IG image-generation technology into Indra’s training systems.
VBS4 is designed to create realistic virtual battlefield environments, while Blue IG generates high-fidelity visual scenes to improve simulator realism.
The collaboration is intended to support the development of more advanced training systems by improving the realism of simulated combat scenarios and facilitating interoperability across different platforms and training environments.
Beyond current programs, the framework could be expanded to future Spanish Army simulation projects, joint technical development, specialized training, and joint business development activities.
Simulation Technologies
Under the agreement, Indra could incorporate capabilities to support large-scale, geographically distributed training activities.
OneArc’s VBS4 platform includes a global terrain database and mission-development tools that allow instructors to rapidly build, modify, and manage training scenarios without extensive terrain modeling.
The software also supports automated performance assessment through integrated after-action review functions and it can exchange data with external training management systems through open interfaces.
Blue IG complements these capabilities by providing the visual layer of the simulation environment.
The image generator is designed to reproduce dynamic operational conditions, including variable weather, lighting, and environmental effects.
It can be used to support simulation and training activities across land, maritime, air, and space environments.
Blue IG supports a wide range of simulator architectures, from portable training devices to larger multi-screen and dome-based systems, allowing the same synthetic environments to be used across different training configurations.
