The US State Department has cleared a $73-million foreign military sale of Common Fire Control Systems (CFCS) for Singapore’s M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS).
CFCS applies digital processing to control launchers and manage weapons, enabling accurate target engagement and improving effectiveness in both offensive and defensive operations.
The package includes 18 system kits, spare parts, support equipment, and engineering, technical, and logistics services.
It also covers technical documentation, field assistance, and associated training.
Washington noted that the potential sale to a strategic partner in Asia would support political stability and economic growth in the region.
It added that the deal would strengthen the country’s ability to address existing and future threats through both operational and preparedness efforts, while advancing US foreign policy and broader defense goals.
The US assured that the proposed transfer would not disrupt the regional military balance or significantly affect the readiness of American armed forces.
The contractor selected for the initiative is Lockheed Martin, which produces the HIMARS weapon system in partnership with CFCS developer L3Harris.
Currently, there are 24 HIMARS employed under the Singapore Army’s 23rd Battalion artillery unit.
