Radar company Echodyne has introduced an Android Team Awareness Kit (ATAK) plugin for its MESA radar platform, letting operators configure, control, and view radar data directly within the TAK environment rather than switching between separate applications.
The plugin is aimed at military, public safety, border security, and critical infrastructure users who already rely on TAK for mission planning and shared situational awareness.
It works with both individual MESA radar units and distributed radar networks, feeding tracks into a common operating picture visible to all connected TAK users.
TAK Integration
TAK is a government-developed geospatial software suite used across the US military and other government agencies to share real-time location and operational data.
The ecosystem has grown well beyond defense into public safety and emergency response, with the US Army’s TAK Product Center saying it now supports 15 Department of Defense programs and more than 250,000 military and civilian users.
Echodyne CEO Eben Frankenberg said the integration reflects the company’s continued investment in interoperability, framing it as a way to give customers direct access to radar data through an interface many already use.
Echodyne builds electronically scanned radar systems based on metamaterials technology for applications including counter-drone missions, perimeter security, force protection, border surveillance, and critical infrastructure monitoring.
Its MESA radar family is designed to detect and track airborne and ground-based targets while maintaining a compact form factor suitable for fixed and mobile deployments.
The company said the ATAK plugin is now available for users of its MESA radar platform.
