AIRO Group Delivers RQ-35 Drone With Zentra Camera Suite for the First Time
US company AIRO Group has delivered an order of RQ-35 Heidrun military drones equipped with its proprietary Zentra camera and sensor suite.
The delivery was completed in the second quarter of this year, marking the first operational deployment of the Zentra system, although the company did not disclose the customer.
Like the RQ-35 drone, AIRO’s Danish subsidiary Sky-Watch also developed the Zentra system, which provides electro-optical and infrared sensing, thermal detection, long-range visual identification, and navigation support in GNSS-challenged environments.
The suite also includes a panoramic 360-degree camera, 4K video and still-image capture, and 50x continuous zoom, in addition to analytics driven by artificial intelligence.
“Owning our imaging technology changes what we can deliver to customers, giving us direct control over the capabilities that matter most in complex mission environments,” said CEO Joe Burns.
RQ-35 Drone
The RQ-35 Heidrun is a fixed-wing drone designed for intelligence, reconnaissance, and surveillance missions.
Designed to operate in electronic warfare-intense battlefields, the RQ-35 has a transmission range of up to 50 kilometers (31 miles), a takeoff weight of 3.07 kilograms (6.7 pounds), and 150 minutes of flight time.
It has been combat-proven in Ukraine, with deliveries and procurement support involving Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands across different phases of the war.
AIRO completed its first US-assembled RQ-35 drone in December 2025.
