The US Marine Corps is adding four more Bayonet 250 autonomous underwater ground vehicles from Greensea IQ under a $3.7-million delivery order to strengthen its littoral mine countermeasure capabilities.
The Bayonet 250 is designed to operate from deep water through the surf zone and onto land, allowing it to conduct missions across seabed, coastal, and littoral environments.
It is intended to help detect, reacquire, and neutralize underwater explosive threats while reducing risks to personnel.
Powered by Greensea IQ’s open-architecture autonomy software and Bayonet Workspace mission system, the platform supports unmanned navigation and mission execution in hazardous environments.
LEON Program Continues to Expand
The new delivery order builds on the continued development of the Littoral Explosive Ordnance Neutralization (LEON) family of systems.
In October 2024, the US Marine Corps awarded Greensea IQ a $9-million contract to continue procuring Bayonet 250 systems under the LEON program.
The US Marine Corps first fielded a LEON system in October 2021, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Remotely Operated Vehicle, which enables Marines to safely navigate shallow waters to identify and neutralize explosive hazards and other underwater threats.
