Terradepth has participated in LANTERNFISH, a US Navy exercise designed to evaluate technologies and operational workflows for managing and using ocean data during maritime operations.
As part of the exercise, the company deployed its Absolute Ocean cloud platform alongside AO OnBoard, an edge-based data management system.
Together, the platforms allow ocean data from multiple sources to be processed, organized, visualized, and securely shared across cloud and edge environments.
According to the company, the technologies were used to provide authorized users with a common operational picture for mission planning and analysis while protecting sensitive information.
Focus on Data Integration
The company said its contribution centered on the data management layer rather than data collection, integrating information from different acquisition sources and making it available closer to where operations take place to shorten the time between collection and operational use.
Terradepth said the exercise highlighted the need for interoperable ocean data workflows that enable information collected from multiple sources to be rapidly transformed into decision-ready intelligence for distributed maritime operations.
“The challenge is not just collecting data,” Terradepth CEO and co-founder Joe Wolfel said.
“It is getting the right data from disparate acquisition channels into a usable form fast enough to matter.”
