Anduril and Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A. (PGZ) have announced that they will establish a production facility for the surface-launched Barracuda-500M (SLB-500M) cruise missiles in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
The milestone forms part of a signed cooperative agreement that builds on a memorandum of understanding inked in October 2025 between the state-owned Polish defense firm and the US company.
SLB-500M production for the Polish Armed Forces will be overseen by PGZ subsidiary WZL-2 at its facilities in Bydgoszcz, known as the “NATO Capital of Poland” due to hosting multiple major alliance installations, including the Joint Force Training Centre.
Plans to incrementally increase supply chain localization are also included within the agreement, aiming to make the Polish-produced Barracuda a majority European-made, SAFE-compliant product.
Adam Leszkiewicz, President of the Management Board at PGZ, highlighted how PGZ and Anduril endeavor “to produce and deliver several thousand low-cost yet technologically advanced autonomous long-range cruise missiles” within a short period of time.
“This is a completely new area of equipment for the Polish Armed Forces, and we expect positive interest in our new product, and potentially other markets,” he added.
Low-Cost, Scalable Missile
The SLB-500M is fitted with a 100-pound (45-kilogram) munition payload to destroy a wide range of ground and maritime targets.
It can travel at ranges exceeding 500 nautical miles (926 kilometers/575 miles).
Part of Anduril’s Barracuda-M line that was unveiled in September 2024, the cruise missile is mass-producible and has a lower cost than comparable weapons.
In May, the Pentagon signed a deal with Anduril to deliver at least 3,000 all-up SLB-500M systems over three years.
