Kratos Defense & Security Solutions has signed a $36-million contract to produce a new secretive air defense missile system.
Activities for the deal will be facilitated at a secure production plant, with associated works to be handled by the California-based company’s C5ISR division.
Details on the agreement’s timeline, related technical specifications, and recipient were not disclosed due to “security related, competitive, and other considerations.”
The firm noted that the order would include “military-grade hardware” that would be fielded for a “critical national security program.”
Kratos’ current portfolio includes the Ragnarök low-cost cruise missile for long-range precision strikes, the Erinyes and Dark Fury hypersonic flight vehicles, and the BQM-177A, BQM-167 Skeeter, and MQM-178 Firejet subsonic ballistic test and target drones.
“Kratos’ air defense related hardware, products, and systems business, both in the United States and internationally, is currently seeing increased demand from numerous customers for multiple systems, platforms and technologies,” Kratos CEO and President Eric DeMarco stated.
“Over the past several years, Kratos has made significant investments in property, plant, equipment and facilities, which we are continuing as we are laser focused on supporting the United States Department of War and the rebuild and recapitalization of our nation’s defense industrial base.”
The deal follows a March 2026 award that required Kratos to manufacture a counter-unmanned aerial system capable of identifying and monitoring targets.
That project, valued at $7 million, will support operations against low-profile drones as well as cruise missiles.
