US unmanned maritime systems developer MARTAC has signed a manufacturing agreement with Florida-based boatbuilder Intrepid Powerboats to increase production capacity for its autonomous surface vessels.
Under the collaboration, Intrepid will manufacture hulls and vessel structures for MARTAC’s unmanned platforms, drawing on its existing production facilities and marine manufacturing workforce.
The partnership is expected to increase MARTAC’s annual output capacity to between 200 and 300 unmanned surface vessels (USVs).
MARTAC is seeking to expand manufacturing through partnerships with established commercial boatbuilders to shorten production timelines and increase output as demand for autonomous maritime systems grows.
The expanded capacity will support production of MARTAC’s Devil Ray and MANTAS USV families, which are designed for missions including maritime surveillance, reconnaissance, force protection, and other autonomous surface operations.
“Our customers don’t just need a capable platform, they need confidence that we can deliver at scale, on schedule,” said Seamus Flatley, MARTAC’s Chief Growth Officer.
Devil Ray Platforms
MARTAC’s Devil Ray family of UAVs includes three variants.
The largest model, the Devil Ray T38, is powered by an inboard diesel engine and can carry payloads of up to 1,814 kilograms (4,000 pounds).
Smaller variants include the 7.2-meter (24-foot) T24, with a payload capacity of 817 kilograms (1,800 pounds), and the 6-meter (19.8-foot) T18, which can carry up to 340 kilograms (750 pounds).
Maximum speeds for all platforms exceed 60 knots (111 kilometers/69 miles per hour).
The platforms can be configured for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions.
They also support maritime security, patrol, kinetic strike, stealth operations, and payload deployment missions.
