Aselsan has secured a 780-million-euro ($900-million) contract to supply air defense systems for Turkey’s growing Steel Dome network.
The agreement, signed with Turkey’s Presidency of Defense Industries, covers deliveries between 2028 and 2032.
Turkey’s Steel Dome is a planned layered air and missile defense network designed to integrate the country’s various radar, sensor, command-and-control, and interceptor systems into a single architecture.
Announced by the Turkish government in 2024, the project aims to connect short-, medium-, and long-range air defense assets. This allows assets to share data and respond to threats ranging from drones and helicopters to cruise missiles, fighter aircraft, and ballistic missiles.
Turkey’s Steel Dome Program
Turkey has steadily expanded the Steel Dome project over the past two years, moving it from concept to an operational air defense network.
In May, Aselsan announced plans to increase deliveries of Steel Dome components by more than 50 percent, supplying over 150 systems that include early-warning radars, electronic warfare assets, and counter-drone capabilities.
Earlier, in January, the SIPER-1 long-range air defense missile was formally integrated into the Steel Dome architecture after completing serial production acceptance tests in late 2025. The system is designed to engage aerial threats at ranges of up to 150 kilometers (93 miles).
The effort follows a series of contracts signed by Turkish defense companies in November 2025 worth approximately $6.5 billion to support the development and production of the Steel Dome network.
