New York-based Moog has completed a critical design review supporting a military-grade revamp for Lockheed Martin’s L-382G Hercules fleet under Alaskan airline firm Lynden Air Cargo.
The milestone builds on a 2025 partnership between the companies for the Avionics Modernization Program, which integrates Moog’s proprietary Genesys Avionics Suite with the aircraft.
The validation approves the final capability design, moving the initiative to the installation phase and a maiden flight later this year.
Delivering ‘Modern Standards’
Moog’s Genesys enhances aircraft performance and situational awareness, enabling deployments in more complex domains.
The system improves flight calculations, altitude management, as well as real-time traffic and weather monitoring while shifting workload from pilots to digital systems.
It also reduces maintenance costs, boosts electronics reliability, and extends the plane’s service life.
Genesys covers mission-ready hardware, including smart glass cockpit displays, an automatic flight control system, an elevation warning system, multi-band digital navigation and communication radios supporting tactical and civilian frequencies, and a sensor package required for military missions.
Moog offers the Genesys upgrade for other fixed-wing and rotary-wing platforms, including the L-382G’s military transport counterpart C-130.
