A Drone Lighter Than a Laptop: Teledyne Shrinks Battlefield ISR to 450 Grams

A new micro-drone from Teledyne FLIR Defense is designed to deliver continuous reconnaissance and extend situational awareness beyond line of sight.

Dubbed Black Recon, the drone weighs less than 450 grams (about one pound), offers 50 to 60 minutes of endurance per flight, and reaches speeds of up to 56 miles (90 kilometers) per hour.

It carries both thermal and visible payloads for real-time imagery and targeting data, alongside Visual Inertial Navigation for radio-silent missions.
