Swedish company Front Ventures AB has invested 1.5 million euros ($1.7 million) in Polish-Ukrainian radar developer Molfar Defence Technologies, backing efforts to develop systems capable of detecting small drones and other low-altitude aerial threats.
The investment forms the bulk of Molfar’s 2-million-euro ($2.3-million) funding round and gives Front Ventures a 10 percent stake in the company.
Molfar, founded in 2026, is developing tactical radar systems aimed at addressing a growing challenge for air defense forces: detecting small, slow-moving drones operating close to the ground and in complex electromagnetic environments.
According to the company, its radar combines proprietary signal-processing algorithms with a target-recognition model designed to distinguish drones from other airborne targets.
“We build tactical radar systems that can be placed close to the units that need them and scaled up across different defense environments,” Molfar co-founder Maks Dzherikhov said.
Molfar said it is working closely with the Ukrainian military and one of Poland’s largest defense and dual-use equipment suppliers, allowing the company to incorporate operational feedback into development and testing.
Investors Increase Support for Ukrainian Defense
Molfar joins a growing list of Ukrainian defense companies that have attracted investments.
In May, Front Ventures raised 5 million euros ($5.9 million) to invest in Ukrainian and Nordic defense startups developing battlefield-tested drones, software, and communications technologies.
The fund targets early-stage companies with proven prototypes that are preparing to scale production.
Earlier, in April, the Netherlands announced a 248-million-euro ($293 million) investment in joint drone production with Ukraine.
