Virginia defense company Leidos and German logistics giant DHL Supply Chain have teamed up to submit a robust and scalable military equipment distribution network proposal for the UK Ministry of Defence’s Future Defence Support Services (FDSS) program.
FDSS consolidates procurement, warehousing, distribution, and equipment maintenance into a unified framework under a contract valued at 8 to 18 billion pounds ($10.7 to $24.2 billion) from 2028 to 2040.
The consortium, to operate as the “Logistics & Mission Support Alliance,” pitches Leidos’ military integration expertise with DHL’s global logistics reach to support London’s future defense supply chain requirements.
The alliance said it would provide logistics support designed for austere domains by leveraging global infrastructure, increasing capacity, and integrating operations to preserve supplies and recover quickly from disruptions if selected as the effort’s prime partner.
The companies also plan to use artificial intelligence, data analytics, and automation to improve oversight across inventory, demand, and assets while streamlining associated processes.

DHL Supply Chain UK & Ireland CEO Martin Willmor added that the FDSS program offers “an opportunity to modernise support of UK Defence” and that the partnership aims to deliver “a more responsive supply chain” for warfighters.
