Taipei is seeking to cancel a 987.81-million New Taiwanese dollar ($30.5 million) contract for fixed-site counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) solutions after the equipment repeatedly failed to pass military benchmarks.
Defense firm Tron Future was selected to deliver 26 ground-based systems capable of detecting low-observable drones at ranges of at least 6 kilometers (4 miles) and jamming them from up to 4 kilometers (2 miles).
Taiwanese media reported that the systems failed prototype verification and two initial acceptance tests, including one in which a commercial drone reportedly entered the protected area without being detected.
