Japan Taps Quantum Systems to Develop Drone Killers

Tokyo has signed on German defense firm Quantum Systems to help develop and evaluate next-generation interceptor drones under the Acquisition, Technology & Logistics Agency’s (ATLA) Counter Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) Proof-of-Concept effort.

The initiative is part of ATLA’s Early Acquisition Program, which aims to speed the testing and fielding of advanced drone-killing aircraft and other counter-UAS technologies for the Japan Self-Defense Forces.

Quantum Systems said its selection highlights growing demand for modern counter-drone solutions while expanding the company’s defense partnerships across the Indo-Pacific.
