China Debuts Truck-Mounted Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System
China has offered a rare glimpse into the future of drone launches, dropping a video demonstration of its truck-mounted electromagnetic aircraft launch system (EMALS).
Video released by the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) shows three eight-wheeled flatbed trucks linking together on an airbase runway to form a segmented EMALS.
Once joined through mechanical connectors, the vehicles create a continuous launch rail that propels a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into the air within seconds.
