Virginia-based MANTECH has secured a $197-million contract to support radar modernization works at the US Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center – Crane Division (NSWC Crane).
Headquartered in Indiana, the command is responsible for advancing solutions across electronic warfare, strategic missions, and expeditionary warfare.
MANTECH’s role is to assist those pathways through research, development, engineering, and testing as the center transitions from legacy radar platforms to modern capabilities.
The company is expected to handle systems upgrades related to “hundreds” of air and surface targets, interceptor missile guidance, and digital jamming defenses.
It will also cover the integration of the solutions mentioned into Pentagon-owned radar and signals equipment.
Associated activities will be facilitated for five years.
“Modern naval operations require radar and electronic warfare systems that can evolve at the speed of mission demand,” MANTECH CEO and President Matt Tait said.
“This work will not only help ensure that the Navy’s surface radar systems will be equipped with the latest technology… but will also develop and test future capabilities for the systems through new prototypes, predictive reliability and various operational analysis.”
Maintaining ‘Superior Fleet Readiness’
The firm emphasized that the agreement will address obsolescence while ensuring key naval fleet assets are deployment-ready and cost-effective throughout their operational lives.
