Overland AI to Build UGVs for US Marine Air Defense System

The US Marine Corps has awarded Overland AI a $20-million contract to produce unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) for the Marine Air Defense Integrated System (MADIS).

MADIS combines sensors, targeting algorithms, and the proven Joint Light Tactical Vehicle to create a ground-based short-range air defense system capable of countering unmanned aerial systems and other low-flying threats.

The deal, which the company says marks the first time a ground autonomy firm has served as the prime contractor for a production program, covers more than a dozen UGVs, along with software, spare parts, and support services.
