Denmark will supply Ukraine with 15,000 extended-range artillery shells, Ukrainian Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov has announced.
The delivery follows Kyiv’s request to Copenhagen to reallocate planned purchases from short-range to long-range artillery shells, he added. Some of the projectiles have already been delivered.
“We have three unwavering priorities: air defense, long-range artillery, and Ukrainian-made drones,” Fedorov explained.
“These are the areas where we concentrate our efforts and work to ensure partner funding is directed as effectively as possible — fighting for every dollar of international support.”
In February, Denmark also announced an additional $541 million in military aid for Ukraine, partially financed through the sale of F-16 fighter jets.
With this latest allocation, Denmark’s total military support for Ukraine in 2026 is projected to rise to $1.99 billion.
Long-Range Artillery
As unmanned aerial systems expand battlefield “kill zones,” long-range artillery has gained importance, enabling extended-range strikes while reducing risk to Ukrainian crews.
Fedorov has previously stated the need for artillery rounds capable of reaching targets at ranges of at least 30 kilometers (18.6 miles).
Ukraine reportedly requires 1.2 million long-range 155mm artillery rounds in 2026, of which Rheinmetall says it can supply around 100,000.
Separately, earlier this month, Fedorov announced that Norway would fund the purchase of long-range artillery ammunition to support Ukrainian forces on the front lines.
