Azerbaijan and Turkey are strengthening military logistics cooperation as both countries seek to improve sustainment capabilities and operational readiness.
Officials from the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defense and the Turkish Armed Forces met in Baku, where they discussed a range of logistics and support issues, as well as how military cooperation contributes to regional stability.
Discussions covered wartime food and water supply, transportation of military equipment and materiel, maintenance operations, casualty evacuation, and other sustainment functions.
Officials also discussed the decisive role of logistics on increasingly transparent battlefields, exchanging views on strategic warning, critical vulnerabilities, and the emerging era of autonomous sustainment, according to Azerbaijan.
Azerbaijan’s Defense Ties
While Turkey remains Azerbaijan’s closest military ally, Baku has also expanded defense cooperation with several other countries in recent years through aircraft purchases, military-technical agreements, and defense industry partnerships.
In October 2025, Azerbaijan and South Korea held talks aimed at expanding military cooperation and strengthening bilateral defense ties. Discussions focused on modernization, the exchange of expertise, and identifying new areas for future collaboration.
Earlier, in 2024, deepened military cooperation occurred with another partner after the Caucasus country agreed to acquire the Pakistani-made JF-17 Thunder multirole fighter aircraft.
In the same year, officials from Azerbaijan and Serbia agreed to expand military-technical cooperation and explore new opportunities in the defense industry.
Baku has also increased defense engagement with Kazakhstan through joint exercises and military education exchanges.
